The Situation


  • Our customer is a leading food producer in Ireland producing over 4,000 tonnes of fresh and frozen products per year.

  • Over the years they had invested in technology to help growth, but the technology had grown out of date and was no longer fit for purpose.

  • Through the Enterprise Ireland Digitalisation Programme Pembroke Alliance was appointed to facilitate a Digital Transformation.

The Objectives & Challenges


The main objectives of the programme were to concentrate on:-

  • Provide clarity on what technology should be deployed to help the continued growth of their business

  • Provide the capability to deploy that new technology with minimal impact on the day-to-day operations of the business

  • Provide a framework to ensure the ongoing support and growth of the technology infrastructure so that it continues to support the growth of the business

In order to achieve these objectives a number of challenges had to be overcome:-

  • Lack of information about the current technology estate and the systems deployed

  • Legacy technical and data issues

  • Working with 3rd party providers who were providing a bad level of service

  • Choosing a product suite that met the needs of the business today and into the future

The Outcomes


The following outcomes were achieved:-

  • 5-year technology roadmap was put in place and funding was secured from government agencies for its implementation

  • Selection and procurement of leading cloud software to support the needs of the business reducing the total cost of ownership

  • Successful implementation of the new systems (ERP) on a realistic timeline with minimal impact on the business

  • Implementation of a support function using internal and external resources that promotes self-sufficiency and reduces overhead
